Can You Turn Back Time?

Today's Daily Diva Word is CONTEMPORARY. Are you a Contemporary Diva? Contemporary means fitting in with the times and sometimes that means flying by the seat of our pants trying to hold on to some semblance of our lives.

Some days I think being a Retro Diva is a happier life. Remember when there were no cell phones, call waiting, voice mail and email. When I receive an email with an URGENT flag, I think, Urgent to whom? Not me.

Are you driven by other's demands on your time that is not your priority? Then you are surely contemporary. I say NO! I do not have to respond like a Pavlov's dog to the world's demand on my time. I get to chose who gets those precious minutes. They're mine to share. How about you?

Today, look at how life and technology has created a drain on your life. It was created for convenience, not urgency. The time you have today Diva is all you are promised. Use it wisely. Enjoy it tremendously and in every encounter, leave a legacy by sharing the Diva that you are.

Take a Page Out of the Past and find Some Glamour

Today's Daily Diva Word is GLAMOUROUS. A Glamourous woman casts a Magic Spell on
those around her. She has a presence that stands out.

When was the last time you added Glamour on your To Do List? Today, let it find a permanent home, at least once a week for a little Glamour day.

It can be simple, change the color of your nail polish to Radiant Red. Wear your hair totally different to the office, as if you were going to a Black Tie Affair. Copy some of the actresses of the 40's, they knew Glamour.

Rent a movie starring any one of these Glamorous women that peak your interest; Sophia Loren, Dolores Del Rio or Greta Garbo.

A great book about these and other Glam stars is Star Style, Hollywood Legends as Fashion Icons by Patty Fox.

Pick your favorite Glamourous woman and copy one of her traits. It is so much fun.

Pampering ourselves has gotten a bad rap. Taking care of ourselves with some mindless self indulgences helps us feel like the beauty we are. It also feeds our soul. To treat us to some summer fun I am digging into the Distinctively Diva archives to start playing again. Are you In? All it takes to nurture ourselves is a few minutes a day and some awesome ideas. Who knows, maybe you'll pick up some self-esteem and new confidence along the way.

Day 4 - from Take five: The Diva's Guide to Pampering by Maureen O'Crean

Aren’t you sometimes amazed at the power and beauty of simple things; little things that bring us closer to our heart of hearts. It can be as simple as soaking up a beautiful painting, like a Monet or Matisse. These Masters painted the impressions of the world, not the “reality”. That’s where I choose to live, in my interpretation or impression of the world, not someone else’s reality. Today, we are going to pamper our minds. We are going to overload ourselves with little goodies of things we love. I shall abandon calorie counting for 1 short time as I savor, Starbuck’s Chai Latte Spiced Tea. I shall take the time to read a poem and listen to the music I love, be it Mozart or Reba McEntire. I shall find some flowers to admire and inhale those sweet, exotic and mysterious scents. And most of all, I shall dream today. Dream of all the wonders yet to be, the gifts I have to bring to the world. And what about you, my Diva sister, will you join me in my respite from reality? Will you dream your dream with me? Only you can deliver your gift, pamper that child today, in your mind. And on this special day of all days, I shall give myself a permanent gift and I shall not watch the news before I sleep. I will keep my consciousness filled with all the little things that mean so much.
